Dr. Erika Edwards is a Professional Counselor and a third-generation educator of Mobile, Alabama relocating to Atlanta in 1996. She earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Alabama State University with a concentration in Communications.

Continuing to pursue her passion for helping others, she accomplished a master's degree in clinical Mental Health at Mercer University. Dedicated to education she embarked into Fulton County Schools L-5 Leadership Program with the University of Georgia and Metro RESA acquiring Clinical and Cultural Diversity Coaching certification. Compassionate toward the future, her goal was set to attain a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University.   

During her successful twenty-five-year tenue with Fulton County Schools she has served as Elementary Teacher and Grade Level Chairperson. Focusing her attention on social and emotional issues in education she was promoted to Professional Counselor and appointed as Fulton School Counselor’s Association President.  

Dr. Edwards was awarded the Fulton County Schools, Legacy of Excellence award for Professional of the Year and Fulton School Counselor Association award for Counselor of the Year. She is selfless exploring the world as a Clinical Medical Missionary and providing effective community service as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She is also a member of The Mardi Gras Association and enjoys crabbing on the Gulf of Mexico with family, friends, and pets!  


Dracy Astin is a Counselor and educator of Atlanta, Georgia. He earned his bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education from Fort Valley State University with a concentration in Math and Science.  

With his passion and drive for teaching and aim to make a change in his students’ lives, his goal is to help them excel and achieve so that they can become productive citizens. Thus, he completed a master's degree in School Counseling at West Alabama University. Through Dedication for helping children and enhancing his knowledge in counseling to guide students to do well academically and socially, he pursued his Educational Specialist Degree in School Counseling.

For the past twenty-five-years with Fulton County Schools, he has served as Middle School Teacher, Grade Level Chairperson, Boys Basketball Coach, Graduation Coach, SST Chair, and 504 Chair at Paul D. West Middle School. 

A native Atlanta, in his free time, Mr. Astin enjoys spending time with his family and watching sports and his favorite hometown teams – The Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks, & Atlanta Braves.

Counseling Mission Statement

The mission of the Counseling Department is to build a comprehensive developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. Programs developed by the Counseling Department will be driven by the unique ethnic, cultural, and economic diversity of the entire student population with the end goal of removing barriers to student learning and encouraging achievement at the highest level for each student. Through a partnership with students, educators, parents, and the community, the  Counseling Department will prepare students academically and socially to be productive members and leaders of society.

 The Counseling program is an integral part of our students' school experience. The purpose of this site is to inform parents of the services available to assist students with their personal and academic needs.
